Lake Norman is the largest man-made lake in North Carolina! Created in 1963 by Duke Energy, the lake is 34 miles long and 9 miles wide with 520 miles of shoreline. You’ll find that the average depth is 33.5 feet with the deepest parts reaching over 110 feet. Four different counties separate the area: Iredell, Catawba, Mecklenburg and Lincoln Counties. The towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Mooresville, Sherrills Ford, Terrell, and Troutman makeup the coastline.
